Each week we try to feature a truly unique vehicle our collective has the pleasure of photographing. Dubbing them a “Kühlt Classic”. This type of post to the digi-blog is (deservedly) the second individual car feature. It just so happens to be the first submission by artist Paul Bilek.
We have encountered this stunning 1988 911 all three times it made it to a Porsche event. Each rendezvous kept us wondering more and more about the car and what its story was.
The paint makes it stand out, and like a magic eye poster (I know we just dated ourselves), the more you look at it, the more you see. It’s a work of art sitting in front of you.
Disguised as a traditional late 80’s 911, the Diamond Blue Metallic Fuchs wheels match the car’s paint. The engine cover is de-badged from the factory, leaving the body void of the model or version. It looks clean and minimalistic. Almost too clean! It will cause you to pause and wonder, “What else isn’t where it’s supposed to be?” Or if it’s as it should be.
Naturally, you begin to walk around, and then… you peek inside and see none other than Ferry Porsche’s signature stitched into the blue-toned leather headrests. All are in immaculate condition, down to the premium deep-pile carpet folded into the interior and trunk of this sportscar.
Only 130 coupes of this commemorative edition 911 made their way to the States, marking the production of 250,000 Porsche to be built. Despite its unassuming look, enthusiasts will be struck by its presence and classic beauty. Everyone will be craving to know more about this car from the moment you walk around it.
Now, let’s take a few more minutes to look at it!
